DHL Express International Shipping Upgrade

I've received a few backer requests for DHL Express shipping over economy shipping. Since I had to add that after the surveys were already sent, I added it to the bottom of the add-on page as an upgrade. You can return to the survey and add it to your order. DHL Express will deliver in 2-3 days after shipping. Due to the logistics of shipping out the Kickstarter orders, it won't expedite the handling process on our end, but we will prioritize any shipments with DHL Express option.

Satin or Matte Finish?

In the backerkit survey, you're going to choose between SATIN or MATTE finish. I've received requests for a better closeup picture to help choose. Honestly, it's extremely difficult to take a picture that does these justice. They look better in person. Here you go:

Custom Engravings

There's a custom engraving option for each finish of MARKSMITH, and also for the Highlighter versions. If you want to add a custom engraving, choose the option that matches your MARKSMITH. If you are ordering multiples with the same or different engravings, please add on a custom engraving for each marker you want engraved. After the add-on page, there will be a page where you can enter the text that you want to be engraved.

HIGHLIGHTER Version

All MARKSMITH FINE marker bodies are also compatible with highlighter refills. You can add on a MARKSMITH BLACK Ti HIGHLIGHTER or natural brushed finish highlighter to your order so you have a highlighter to complement your permanent marker.

If you didn't add the refills on during the Kickstarter, now's your chance to add some.

We are ready to start shipping MARKSMITH BLACK Ti!

The Backerkit surveys are going to be sent out tomorrow (4/14). Here's a preview of the options and add-ons that will be available.

Satin or Matte Finish?

Fix Errored Pledges

PLEASE Check to make sure that your pledge payment was processed properly

There are many pledge payments that did not process. If your payment doesn't process, then we can't ship your Marksmith. Please check the status to see if all is good. If there are issues, please follow these instructions or contact us if you are still having issues.

Your pledge for the MARKSMITH BLACK Ti needs some attention if you would like to receive it. The credit card on file with Kickstarter could not be processed. Please log back into Kickstarter to replace the card or retry the payment. It's likely that you will need to contact your credit card company to OK the charge.

You only have 1 day left to correct this issue, before your pledge gets automatically canceled by Kickstarter.

Log in to Kickstarter and click the “Fix payment” button in the banner at the top of your screen. This will guide you through the process of changing or retrying your payment method.

It may not necessarily be the case that there’s a specific issue with your card, so much as that you’ll need to ask your bank why this charge in particular is being declined. You may also want to include the details of this transaction, such as:

- The charge being from Kickstarter.
- The amount pledged for the project.
- The date when Kickstarter attempted to collect your pledge. This was the date that the project you backed ended. If the project hasn't ended yet, you can use the date you attempted to pledge.
- Additionally, it may be helpful to request that your bank “whitelist” any charges from Kickstarter.

Once you’ve contacted your bank, feel free to log in to the Kickstarter account from which you pledged and click the “Fix Payment” button in the “Important Notifications” banner.

MATTE and/or SATIN results

Thanks for filling out the survey to help us get an idea of the quantity of matte vs satin finishes. The running tally is approximately 70% Matte and 30% Satin with many backers choosing one of each. Now we know. This will help prepare the shipments. I'm setting up Backerkit, so expect the surveys within 1 week of the end of the campaign.

When I first started designing and making knives, pens, and markers, one of my inspirations was the work of Darriel Caston of D Rocket Designs. I love his style and aesthetic. His designs are so original, and he's always pushing the boundaries. I also like the way he collaborates with other makers to create designs only possible through synergy. I've been following the development of his new pen "KAZE" on his IG, and he ended up launching it on Kickstarter a few days after I launched MARKSMITH BLACK Ti. It's a very cool design and more affordable than his usual pen offerings (unless you want to go all out on a solid zirconium one). This is not a cross-promotion. I asked his permission to share it with you all because his work is awesome, and he's an inspirational designer/maker whom I have the utmost respect for. I expect nothing in return, and if he does choose to share Marksmith, that is up to him.

So go ahead and check out the KAZE pen here (ends today)...

For pocket carry, I really appreciate the telescoping tip design, because the blunt end prevents being stabbed by a sharp pen point. It's also just plain cool.
